(Washington) Washington on Friday announced that it has suspended 44 passenger flights from the United States to China due to health restrictions imposed by Beijing on Govt-19 on US airlines.

China maintains strict control over its territory, including the cancellation of flights if the number of cases per flight is high.
The Chinese Civil Aviation Authority used the policy to cancel US, Delta and United Airlines flights when passengers who tested negative before the flight departed were then positively tested upon arrival in China.
The U.S. Department of Transportation wrote in its order Friday that the move is against the public interest and detrimental to the operations of Delta, American and United States.
“U.S. companies that comply with all Chinese rules regarding pre- and post-flight regulations should not be fined if they test positive for Covit-19 upon arrival,” it said.
The 44 affected flights are operated by Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines, and are scheduled for between January 30 and March 29.
The move comes three weeks before the start of the Beijing-hosted Winter Olympics.
