This third dose, which has until now been prescribed over the age of 40, should now be given for three months, and six months after the second dose of the vaccine, the team’s experts, JCVI, advised at the emergency conference.

They also recommended that children between the ages of 12 and 15 be given the second dose of the corona virus vaccine after the first three months.

Professor Jonathan van-Tom, the UK’s chief medical officer, called Omigran a “newcomer.”

He explained that the number of mutations in this variant “threatens the potential impact on the effectiveness of the vaccine”, while calling on people to “do not panic”.

Several cases of the omigran variant of the corona virus have been detected in the UK: six in Scotland, some unrelated to foreign travel, and three in Nottingham (central England), one in Chelmsford (East London) and one in London.

With more than 144,700 deaths, the UK is among the worst-affected countries. Overall, more than 88% of people over the age of 12 in the UK received the first dose of the vaccine, more than 80% received the second dose, and more than 30% received the third dose.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Saturday that he was implementing the new regulations, in response to questions raised by the WHO about what he considered “worrisome”.

The mask will be mandatory in traffic and shops from Tuesday – but not in pubs and restaurants – and is highly recommended in general areas of schools from the age of 11.

From Tuesday, travelers to the UK will be required to take a PCR test two days later and isolate themselves until the results are available. This obligation will also be implemented in Scotland, which, like other countries in the country, will determine its response to the health crisis.

The British government has said the measures will be reconsidered in three weeks.
